Electric motorcycle cost calculator
Calculate the cost of a full charge, range, charging time and the saving over a petrol motorcycle.
How to use
- Enter the pack size in kWh and the consumption in kWh per 100 km — most electric motorcycles land between 2.5 and 4.
- Add your electricity tariff and the charger's output in kW (a 500 W charger is 0.5 kW).
- Enter the petrol price and the km/litre of the bike you are replacing to see the saving per kilometre and per 100 km.
Frequently asked questions
My battery says 72V 20Ah, not kWh. What do I enter?
Multiply the two and divide by 1000: 72 × 20 = 1440 Wh = 1.44 kWh. If you would rather type volts and amp-hours directly, the electric bicycle calculator takes them in that form and does the conversion for you.
Why does charging take longer than the time shown?
Two reasons: chargers are rated at their output, so the socket draws more than the pack receives, and the battery management system tapers the current over the last stretch to protect the cells. Treat the figure as the theoretical minimum and add roughly 10–20%.
What if I use a battery swap service instead?
Then you pay a fixed fee per swap rather than per kWh. Use the full-charge cost here as your benchmark: if a swap costs more than charging the same pack at home, you are paying the difference for the convenience of not waiting.
Do I need to fill in the electricity tax field?
Fill it in for your region. PPJ comes out of a token's value whatever your connection size, at a rate each region sets between 2.4 and 10 per cent; PPN only joins in above 6,600 VA, which few people need just to charge a motorcycle. The 10 per cent default here comes from a real token on a 4,400 VA connection: Rp 200,000 credited 107 kWh, or Rp 1,869 per kWh. One thing no percentage captures is the seller's admin fee, charged per purchase — buying many small tokens quietly raises what you pay per kWh.
About this tool
An electric motorcycle carries a battery roughly thirty times smaller than a car's, which changes every number: a full charge is usually a few thousand rupiah, the charger draws less than a hair dryer, and the whole pack fills overnight from an ordinary wall socket. This calculator takes the pack size in kWh, your consumption in kWh per 100 km and your PLN tariff, and returns the cost of a full charge, the cost per kilometre, the expected range and the charging time. The comparison column is where the case is usually made: a petrol motorcycle doing 45 km per litre still costs several times more per kilometre than the same distance on electricity, and the calculator shows exactly how much per 100 km. The petrol equivalent line puts it in the unit riders already think in — how many kilometres the price of one litre buys you on electricity, ready to compare with the km/litre on your old bike.
