Frequently asked questions
How does zalgo work technically?
Each letter is followed by many combining marks — characters that stack diacritics above and below their base. Renderers draw them all, producing the overflow effect.
Why does the same input always give the same output here?
The generator picks marks with a fixed deterministic sequence rather than true randomness, so results are stable and reproducible — useful when you want to reuse the exact text.
Can zalgo break apps or get me blocked?
Some platforms limit combining marks or strip them entirely, and very heavy zalgo may render slowly. A few communities ban it for readability — check the room before unleashing it.
About this tool
Zalgo text is controlled chaos: ordinary letters buried under stacks of Unicode combining marks until they bleed up and down the line. Born from a 2004 internet horror meme, it became the standard way to write "cursed", glitched or haunted text for Halloween posts, creepypasta, ARGs and metal-band aesthetics. This generator offers three intensities — a light shiver, a medium haunting, and full corruption. Output is deterministic: the same input always produces the same marks, so your result is reproducible. Use it sparingly — heavily marked text can slow down rendering in some apps, which is part of its menace.
